Concepts for Life Program

Purpose
This program is designed to assist in the improvement of executive functioning skills, focus and stress reduction. It focuses on self-regulation skills and developmental concepts which make up motivation, self-responsibility and behavior management.

Overview

The Davis Concepts for Life program was created for anyone who wants to create meaningful change in their life. Throughout the program clients have the opportunity to work on their goals by creating, experiencing and reflecting on a series of essential life concepts which provide the framework for self-responsibility and personal growth.Highly trained facilitators work individually with each client, so the program is delivered at their pace and according to their needs and goals. It is a three-part program, starting with self-regulation tools, followed by clay modelling and exploration of a framework of essential core concepts and capabilities. Finally, frameworks for implementing meaningful change are explored in relation to individualized goals.

Working Memory
T
he ability to retain information for processing, including identifying key points, considering all information, and creating a coherent story in a logical sequence. A well-functioning working memory is essential for reading comprehension, following instructions, engaging in conversations, and performing mental math

Inhibition
The capacity to resist immediate impulses in order to remain focused on a task until completion. This also includes the ability to stay on topic and avoid tangents in conversation.

Planning & Organization
Effectively planning and organizing time, information, and tasks. This encompasses following instructions accurately, completing tasks punctually, avoiding procrastination, and creating order in both work and home environments.

Multi-tasking
Managing interruptions and returning to the original task. This includes performing actions while talking and prioritizing tasks based on importance

Emotional Control
Regulating emotions to maintain an optimal level for productivity and achieving desired results

Initiating
Starting tasks, knowing where to begin, and determining subsequent steps. This includes conversation, storytelling,, writing and projects.

Focus & Energy Management
Adjusting energy levels according to the task at hand, enabling focus during lectures or projects without daydreaming, and planning ahead to prevent negative outcomes

Shifting Focus
Flexibly transitioning or shifting attention when changes occur. This involves adapting methods when beneficial, exploring multiple solutions to a problem, and evaluating situations to predict outcomes.

Self-Monitoring
Being aware of when changes are needed and recognizing errors. This includes staying on topic during discussions, noticing topic shifts in group conversations, and accurately answering questions. It involves recognizing mistakes, such as spelling or punctuation errors in writing, and making accurate judgments about one’s own and others’ behavior.

Abstract Thinking
Understanding non-verbal communication, including conveying messages that go beyond words through tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions.

Program Outcome

Although no specific changes can be guaranteed, in almost all cases positive and lasting changes have been experienced. People who have completed the program have experienced many benefits, including:
